Welcome to Mossy Edge Guide Service, specializing in guided fly fishing trips on the historic Little Red River out of Heber Springs, Arkansas
About Your Guide
My name is Zac Butler, and my passion for fly fishing began in the mountains of North Carolina. It was there that I first picked up a fly rod and discovered a love for chasing trout that would eventually take me across the country.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to fish some incredible waters throughout the United States, from small mountain streams to large tailwaters and everything in between. Every river has taught me something different, and each experience has helped shape the angler I am today.
After moving to Arkansas, I quickly fell in love with the Little Red River. Its unique combination of beautiful scenery, consistent trout fishing, and opportunities to catch both quality brown trout and rainbow trout make it one of the premier trout fisheries in the South. Whether I’m throwing streamers in search of a trophy brown trout or fishing under an indicator for numbers of trout, the Little Red continues to challenge and reward me every time I’m on the water.
Mossy Edge Guide Service was built around a simple goal: sharing my passion for fly fishing and helping others experience everything the Little Red River has to offer. Whether you’re new to fly fishing, looking to improve your skills, or hoping to land the trout of a lifetime, I look forward to helping you create memories that will last long after the trip is over.
When I’m not guiding, you’ll usually find me exploring new water, tying flies, spending time with my family, or enjoying another day on the river.

Picky Fish Policy
At Mossy Edge Guide Service, we cannot guarantee fish, we can guarantee that we will put forth our best effort to give you the greatest opportunity for success.
Fishing is fishing not catching. Some days the trout are aggressive and willing to eat anything that drifts by. Other days they can be smarter, sleeping, or simply full and not interested in what we’re offering.
Our goal is to teach, improve skills, enjoy the river, and create lasting memories—catching fish is the bonus that keeps us all coming back.
If we experience an unusually tough day on the water and fail to catch a fish, Mossy Edge Guide Service may, at its sole discretion, offer a discounted or complimentary future trip. This decision is made on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.
We guarantee our effort, professionalism, and dedication—not the behavior of trout.
